Improve Your Swimming. Improve Your Fitness.
I hope everyone is getting excited about our upcoming skills clinic on swimming. I want to answer a couple of questions about what to expect.
When and Where?
Saturday July 9 at Northeast pool in Gainesville (About 5 minutes from LIV)
Who’s coaching it?
The “Intern”.... Although I wasn't a competitive swimmer I’ve been lifeguarding and coaching swim lessons since I was 15 years old. I’ve taught people from three months old to 78 years old and people of all skill levels.
Who should come?
Everyone is welcome to attend no matter what skill level you are at. As long as you are comfortable enough to be in water where you can’t stand and you're willing to put your face underwater you are good to go.
What should I bring?
Bring the basics for going to the pool; towel, sunscreen, water, etc. As far as swimming goes wear a bathing suit that you are comfortable exercising in, bring goggles if you have them, and a swim cap if you think you need one (those with long hair). I will try and bring some extra goggles, so no need to go out and buy them if you don’t already have them.
What is the goal of the clinic?
The goal for the clinic is for everyone to leave being comfortable enough to implement swimming into their own training routine and to be able to prep for a swimming WOD if one was coming up in competition (Wodapalooza?)
What will I learn?
We will go over hydrodynamics, how body positioning can instantly improve your swimming, and stroke mechanics for the freestyle stroke. Also, drills that can help to improve different portions of the freestyle stroke, and workouts/drills to take home with you in order to help you keep improving your swimming.
