What our clients are saying

  • Mary K Wimsett

I started at Crossfit Gainesville in April 2010. I've always exercised and I worked at a gym in college, and belonged to most of the gyms in Gainesville at some point in my life. My best friend convinced me to try out CFG and I've been hooked ever since. My first workouts were difficult and frustrating but the challenge was exciting and interesting. I remember feeling sore in muscles I never knew existed. I remember how encouraging and positive everyone in the class was even though they were all much, much stronger and had to wait on me on a long time to finish the work out. My advice for people getting started is go for it! My favorite CF quote, "What I once feared, I now embrace" rings true. If I can do it, anyone can.

  • Erik Black

I first started training at CrossFit Gainesville in March of 2009. Prior to having kids, I participated in long distance events (10 marathons, 4 Half-Ironman's and 2 Ironman distance races). I was looking for something similar to the sports conditioning I did back in DC but balancing kids and work doesn't leave the time or desire for long distance training. My first workout was Nicole with a green band. I did 5 rounds and about 50 assisted pull-ups. My arms felt like they were going to fall off for a week straight. I remember watching Caleb do "real pull-ups", it just didn't seem possible that I'd ever get there. I've since lost 20lbs and have experienced huge changes in body composition. The community is my favorite part of the gym. For those new to CrossFit, know that anyone can do this and everything is scalable. If you're on the fence, just take the plunge. You may not notice your improvements on a day-to-day basis, but over 8 weeks, you'll see some massive gains. This is particularly true when you first start out, it takes a couple months to master the movements but once you have the basics down it's all gold.

  • Tammy Bleeker

The community is everything. I know whenever I show up I will get the coaching, support, and encouragement I need, regardless of who shows up. The community motivates me outside the gym, whether its running with me for the final 400m of a 10km, copying Paleo recipes for me or meeting me for stadiums. This community is alsopart of my fun and family time.

The community makes all the difference and I'm glad I found it.
